• Operations:

    Review, analyze, interpret, and verify ethnicity documentation, including, but not limited to, foreign and domestic birth, death and marriage certificates, adoption records, affidavits, church records, etc.in compliance with operational procedures.Research claims of Hawaiian ancestry, including contacting applicants or parents of applicants, social service agencies, Department of Health, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, Family Court, etc.Process large volumes of applications, each with individualized attention within the deadlines assigned.

    Provide prompt, courteous, valuable guidance to our families in assisting them toward successfully completing their ancestry verification.Consistently document interactions with families, be accountable for applications and documents received, and perform sound judgment when reviewing each ancestry application.Provide timely, sound, consistent correspondence with families on the status of their verification.Work with Verification Services Leadership team to monitor and make continuous improvements to the process.

  • Communications:
    Maintain an on going dialogue and relationship with other KS programs, units and divisions to ensure consistent message, support and ancestry compliancy occurs across KS enterprise.

  • Programs:
    Understands and supports Kamehameha Schools educational and financial aid programs by providing timely processing of applications for ancestry verification, adhering to established timelines and deadlines for HHDC processing.

  • Community Outreach:
    Provides assistance with community workshops and informational sessions. Assist with mass mailing, call or community campaigns to increase or improve the rate of verified applicants in the Data Center for specific areas, programs or community events. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

  • High School/equivalent and 3+ years of related experience in insurance, mortgage, auditing, tax, legal or research.
  • Works independently and with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy and discretion.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to remain cool and professional under pressure and remain flexible in a demanding work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to be accountable for decisions and work product while working with large volumes of processing
  • Demonstrated ability to write thoughts and decisions in a clear and concise manner
  • Proficient in computers and software applications (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook)
  • Demonstrated evidence of being a valuable contributing team member
  • Must maintain good attendance and open communication with supervisor and team members
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required to meet reporting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 2+ years of related experience
  • Experience presenting in front of a public audience
  • Ability to write procedural or training documentation
  • Experience working with social and government service agencies
  • Knowledge of KS history and culture, and familiarity with community relationships
